This collaborative project with Nanotechnology Victoria is seeking to develop innovative structures to house their Micro Array patches. These patches, when infused with medical applications, will replace the need for injections in many conditions. The patches have a surface of micro-needles which penetrate the dermis of the skin. My role is to develop ‘housings’ that will make the wearing of the patches acceptable and even desirable for the target audience. I developed a set of colourful rings for the 12-18 year old female market; wrist bands, and clip on earrings for the female 40-60 year old market (pictured below).

Conceptually, this project is focused on the idea of affording jewellery the capacity to work on a number of distinct levels, above and beyond aesthetics.

Materials: rapid prototyped ‘dust prints’ Micro Array patches, Adhesive
